ANAC Women's Team: A New Chapter Begins in the Club's History

• admin

On June 27, 1951, in the Bel-Air neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, the Aigle Noir made its debut on the Haitian soccer scene. Over the decades, the club has seen several generations of soccer players come and go, each contributing their own talent and character to a shared history. On June 27, 2026, the new executive committee took a landmark step: launching the club’s women’s division. This decision marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Aigle Noir, which is now able to offer young women the honor of wearing the green and black and joining the great Bel-Air family.

To bring this project to life, the Aigle Noir drew on the core of the Girl Squad team, led for the past three years by Salome Sandler Tally, a passionate advocate for women’s soccer in Haiti. After single-handedly leading this project for three years, she decided to partner with L’Aigle Noir: the Girl Squad team thus gave way to the club’s new women’s division, which took over its core group of players.

To strengthen the team, two tryout days were held on August 14 and 15, 2026, after which twelve more young women joined the Aigle Noir women’s team. Since then, the entire group has been training and improving under the expert guidance of Sophia Batard, whose experience is guiding their first steps.

As with the men’s team, the club’s expectations remain unchanged: these young women, too, are heirs to the history and legacy of the Aigle Noir. The members of this very first women’s team must embrace the club’s founding values: resilience, dignity, pride, loyalty, determination, and a spirit of greatness. It is now up to them to write the first pages of this emerging history, marked by success.

A new chapter is thus beginning for the Aigle Noir, and for all those who hold an unwavering attachment to the Bel-Air neighborhood deep in their hearts. Two teams, one shared passion: players united by the desire to do justice to the green-and-black jersey and to make the entire Bel-Air community proud. May this Aigle Noir women’s team blaze its own trail and, in its own way, carry on the legacy of a club that has never stopped believing in those who represent it.
